What's up, blogosphere?
I am currently in my Music Mix class keeping one eye on the kids and the other eye on what I am typing. (:
I am thoroughly enjoying my summer job here at Summer Institute- it is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn and be involved in lots of fantastic activities.
I teach "Guitar Stars", "Music Mix", Digital Photography, and last week I also taught Scrapbooking, which was a ton of fun. The kids are hilarious- you come across a few silly kids that obviously just want to rub you the wrong way- but otherwise, the kids are great. Funny and just needing to be occupied during the summer days.
We are into Week 3 and it has been a lot of fun, but for some reason, this halfway-point is dragging quite a bit and this week is tough!!!

(No) Sleep Tonight
I am very much excited for this weekend!
There is a multitude of events taking place, all of which I am participating in, and I feel extremely blessed to be so involved in God's work!
First, tonight is "The Vigil" at UAC. People from our youth group are staying up (or trying to) all night and just praying and worshipping. It is going to be phenomenal. I can feel it! God is going to work in powerful ways- He's going to draw us closer to Him and I also think it will be another great bonding-experience within the youth group. So we start tonight at 8pm and finish off at like 8am tomorrow morning, when we'll all have breakfast together.
After the wild prayer-party tonight, tomorrow night is another big event! This time, at a different church. Springvale Baptist Church holds a musical-worship-only night monthly,"Saturday Night Alive (SNA)", and it is always fantastic. We've been in touch with some of the "Alive" band members and one asked Josh and I if we wanted to be a part of their huge, year-end celebration SNA! It was very exciting. So of course we agreed to it (even though our weekend would be crazy as it was), and we've been practising with them many times! We're leading 4 songs tomorrow night: You'll Come, Mighty to Save, I Exalt Thee, All I Need is You. REALLY excited about it!
And last, but certainly not least, Sunday night is our "One Prayer" event. It is going to be incredibly powerful. We've got multiple churches (I think 6+?) coming to our church to participate in our year-end kinda big-shabang event. The whole purpose of the night is for our churches to lose whatever denominational title is attached, and just ask God to MAKE US ONE. It is a night focused on unity in the church. Being Christ's body- a united whole, instead of all of these fragmented pieces conflicting with each other. We worship ONE God! And we're going to do it under ONE ROOF! ALTOGETHER! I am really looking forward to it. It will be like heaven! All of us praising God's name together! So that is on Sunday. We have Markham Chinese Baptist Church leading half of the worship, and then we have a band leading the other half. Things are... needing some work, but it's nothing our God can't handle. Again, REALLY excited!
So that's my weekend. I am filled with pure joy to think that God is just going to be lifted SO high this entire weekend! We just never stop praising Him! WOO! I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend. It is going to be so spiritually refreshing.
Anyways, in other news...
Josh is home from school and I am SO happy! It's been absolutely delightful having him home once again, and nice knowing that we won't have to say goodbye for a long time! (; But it's great to have my best friend around to hang out with and hug and love!
As for the design-portion of this post...
I have completed my portfolio website for my Interactivity Design class!!
Woohoo! It was a big deal. So here is the finished product.

"Your Love Never Fails"
Today was my Uncle Peter's funeral.
He had been sick for quite a long time, suffering many ailments over the years, and he quietly passed away last Friday night.
It has been a hard thing to deal with, and as the week went on, I felt more encouraged to move forward.
Until today.
This morning we all had to deal with the reality that our favourite story-telling, joke-dropping, barrel-chested man with the booming laugh and huge hands that would pinch your arms (or get you with 'The Crawww!') had left us.
Strangely, I got extremely nervous this morning as we drove nearer and nearer to Anapilis, the Lithuanian cemetery in Mississauga where my Uncle would be buried. I almost felt panicked, just wanting to escape what I was going to have to face. Feeling the anxiety build up inside of me, I wanted to just run in the opposite direction.
I thank God for the peaceful sunny morning that He gave us, though. The cemetery was absolutely gorgeous, and I wanted so badly to just weave through the gravestones and wander by myself to think about everything. One of the incredible things about Lithuanians is the distinct cultural style in their ornate crafted designs. The intricacy is mind-blowing when you walk up to these headstones and see the incredible crosses.
(This is the 'Hill of Crosses' in Lithuania, which is extremely overwhelming, but I am sure that each cross is beautiful and different. )
I got to walk around after the ceremony, but I should have gone earlier in the morning when no one was there, because at this point, I was crying a lot and people were wandering around like me. They had a miniature 'Hill of Crosses' at Anapilis, so I thought I'd snap a picture of it on this beautiful sunny morning.
It was good to be with my family again, even though the reason why we were gathering was not good. What a strange juxtaposition: there is happiness to be together, sadness because you're not all together- in body and in mind.
It is fascinating and horrifying all at once, to watch people break.
And in times like these, I rejoice in my heart that I have Jesus as my life support, and I can only pray that my family will see my strength and want Him too.

"But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation."
Thanks, to those of you who prayed for my family and I.
Hope I get to see you again someday, Uncle Pete. Love you.

My prof brought it up the other day in class, and I was fascinated by all the amazing ideas.
I'll definitely be spending a lot of time going through their archives! So inspirational, I love it.
My favourites are Motion Graphics, Package Design, Promotional design and advertising, Typographic Design, and Book Design.
Okay, fine fine, I love it all.
I'm just really excited to explore my options with my courses in the next few years, and I am absolutely looking forward to designing all kinds of hip things like this! (:
Here is a poster that I've been working on recently for a Women's Spring Tea happening at my church in May.
In other news,
I'm really excited about today! Many things are happening even though it seems as if no one is going to be around (since March break has just begun).
I spoke a bit at church this morning about what God's been teaching me this year so far. It was really neat--one other kid spoke, but I had ...quite a bit more to say!
It was great because some of the things that I spoke about tied directly to Pastor Dave's message! (God's sneaky-incredible like that, haha!)
Of course, tonight I'm heading to Soulhouse, which is always fantastic! My cousins are coming from Newmarket and I am very excited about having them at the service.
The sun is shining and it is wonderfully refreshing to not have to wear a big heavy winter coat.
People are in better moods all around, and many are already speaking about Spring cleaning...a task that I am sort of putting off, honestly... :/ Cleaning or not, I am excited about this lovely weather!
